This commentary from Rabbi Gellman does a good job explaining what true happiness is--or should be. I find some of it overbearing, as if one can't enjoy life while doing good works. The overall point, though, is right on, and it certainly applies to people looking to reverse insulin resistance and prevent the onset of diabetes. Give it a quick read...
