Unfiltered Water Could Lead to Stomach Cancer Risks

This study, originally published in the International Journal of Cancer, warns us that we need to be careful about the water we consume. In the study, men who drank more than 2 liters (about 64 ounces) of tap water per day had a higher risk of stomach cancer. Personally, I drink 3-4 liters, going on the formula of 1 ounce per two pounds of body weight. I hate to say it, but that's almost always tap water.

The danger seems to be with the chlorine. As has been pointed out elsewhere (and on www.mercola.com, where I originally found the story), why would chlorine stop killing micro-organisms just because it's in your body? Filtering our water is important, and if you can possibly afford to do so, run your water through a filter.

In my opinion, absolutely pure water isn't something we should obsess over until we have the "big things" going our way. The big things are exercise, diet and stress. Still, this is one of those small things that's pretty easy to change.

Remember, your body has to deal with every little "insult" from the outside that comes its way. Chlorine is not exception. That little bit of energy used to clean up the chlorine could be used to build up your immune system or repair damaged DNA. So, it does make a difference. At the very least, get a Brita pitcher and run your tap water through it before you drink it.
