Understanding How Exercise Reduces Cancer
Here is an interesting piece of research on how exercise can reduce cancer risks: How Exercise Prevents Cancer. The text is scientific, so be warned.
Here's the gist of it. Cancer occurs when natural cell death doesn't. The protective process is called apoptosis (programmed cell death), but when the programming gets messed up, the cells continue to grow and proliferate. In the study, researchers found that exercise aids the process of apoptosis, reducing the risk. Of course, we've always known that exercise helps prevent cancer. What wasn't known was how that happened.
Just another piece of the puzzle for proving the effectiveness of a regular exercise program. Digg This!
