Stress, metabolic syndrome, heart disease, and diabetes
Guardian Unlimited Money Special_reports Heart disease and diabetes linked to stress in the office
If you don't want to get diabetes or heart disease, you'll have to find a way to reduce stress in the workplace, according to a huge new study out of the UK. Let's get right to it with the money quote:
"The authors, Tarani Chandola, senior lecturer in the department of epidemiology and public health, and colleagues found a direct relationship between chronic stress and metabolic syndrome. Men with chronic work stress were nearly twice as likely to develop the syndrome, which can lead to heart disease and diabetes, as those who had no work stress."
This study was done with 10,000 subjects over 14 years, so the statistical power of it is undeniable. You should definitely take a look if you are under immense stress at work. With the HRH Program, I tell people there are three things that will kill them off over time: stress, insulin resistance, and inactivity. I can't say I feel "good" about being right, but it certainly points to what can be done to make it better. (Of course, I recommend that what you should do involve the HRH Program. Imagine that!)
Further down, the article also mention that chronic stress could damage the nervous system. That also points to using the HRH Program. It also points to using HeartMath techniques and their Freeze Framer software. It specifically teaches you how to protect yourself from stress by stopping it dead in its tracks through conditioning your parasympathetic nervous system for more harmonious function.
